DonutSMP Server Rules
DonutSMP enforces strict rules to maintain server integrity and fair gameplay. Violations can result in temporary bans, permanent bans, or in severe cases, bans across all accounts associated with a player. Server owner DrDonut and the moderation team actively monitor for rule violations and enforce policies consistently.
Prohibited Activities
IRL trading involves buying or selling in-game items, currency, or accounts for real money through third-party sites. This practice is strictly prohibited and results in permanent bans. Players must only use the official DonutSMP store for any real-money transactions. Trading spawners, shards, or other valuable items for real currency undermines the server economy and creates unfair advantages.
Admins actively ban accounts suspected of botting. Using any sort of bots or alternate accounts to automate gameplay or gain unfair advantages is not allowed. Players were banned in ban waves for running automated farming bots, trading botted items for real money, and flooding the economy with bot-farmed items. The recommendation is to only use accounts you actively play to avoid appearing as a bot.
Operating or participating in external gambling platforms is prohibited. Discord gambling bots are banned on DonutSMP following a 2023 incident where a player running all the Discord gambling bots exit scammed with 1 billion in-game currency and IRL traded all stolen funds. External gambling results in a 3-day ban, while operating external gambling platforms results in a 2-year ban. In-game casino operations using server mechanics remain allowed.
Item duplication exploits and other game-breaking bugs must be reported, not exploited. Any player caught using duplication exploits receives an instant permanent ban. The server development team maintains improved anti-cheat measures in Season 2 to prevent exploit abuse. See the updates page for the history of Season 1. Being in hack or cheat Discord servers is a bannable offense, even if you don’t actively use cheats. Players should use alternate accounts if they must be in cheat-related communities.
Trading across different games or servers for profit is prohibited. This includes exchanging DonutSMP items or currency for items or currency in other Minecraft servers or games. Cross-trading creates economic imbalances and facilitates RMT (real-money trading) through indirect methods.
Allowed Activities
All standard in-game trading is permitted using /auction (Auction House), /orders, and direct player-to-player trades. Market manipulation within game rules is allowed, including auction house flipping, bulk buying and reselling, and coordinated economic activities.
Scamming other players is allowed on DonutSMP. Players are responsible for verifying trades and protecting themselves from fraudulent deals. Common scams include fake spawner sales, bait-and-switch trades, and promise-breaking in deals. While scamming is permitted, players should exercise caution when trading valuable items and only trade with trusted players or use secure methods like the Auction House. The server staff will not intervene in scam disputes or return scammed items.
Running in-game casinos using server mechanics is permitted and represents one of the most profitable money-making methods. House edge gambling games operated entirely within the game client are legal, unlike external Discord bots or third-party gambling platforms. Players can have multiple accounts, but each account must be actively played. Using alternate accounts solely for automated gameplay without active participation is considered botting and will result in bans.
Enforcement & Security
The server moderation team personally reviews ban cases. Major ban waves target specific violations like botting, with multiple accounts banned simultaneously when patterns of abuse are detected. Players can appeal bans through the ticket system on the official DonutSMP Discord server, although this has been known to be very slow and it may take up to 3 months to get a response. For a complete guide to the DonutSMP Discord including the ticket system, market channel, and security guidelines, see the Discord community page. For a complete technical overview of the server’s anti-cheat systems, proxy architecture, and security layers, see the infrastructure page.
If a Discord server asks for your email to grant access, do not provide it. Malicious actors can use your email to hack your Microsoft account and steal your Minecraft account. Legitimate server staff will never ask for your email address. Referral codes for any amount of money should not be used, as these codes often violate server policies and may be connected to IRL trading promotion schemes or scams.
Certain words including “doxx,” “p*do,” and “n*zi” trigger an auto-timeout of up to 24 hours even if said accidentally. Players should be mindful of their language in public chat to avoid automatic moderation actions. For Discord-specific rules including trading and security guidelines, see the Discord community page.
